The Old Print Barn

About Us

The Old Print Barn, Meredith NH

The Old Print Barn is located on Winona Road in Meredith NH within a large Civil War period barn that has been scrubbed and redecorated to serve as a 21st Century Art Gallery. From the beginning of the 19th century until after the Civil War the property was a typical 19th century New England operating farm with horses, cows, chickens, gardens and orchards. The livestock is long gone with the 19th century and during the 20th century, the property was changed to an art gallery and a private home.

Enter the barn door to find yourself in one of the largest art galleries in New England. Walk to the center where you can look all around to see over two thousand original works of art on display. In this one gallery you will see all forms of printmaking, from etchings to mezzotints, photography, watercolors and oil paintings. The gallery is composed of a main floor over forty by forty feet and having two lofts at the second floor level. Both floors are composed of a dozen 8 by 10 foot small bays to make viewing easier. You can see the giant hand hewed timbers that make up the superstructure of the Civil War period barn. Nothing has been changed, only decorated to lose the impression of a cow barn and gain that of an art gallery.

If we are not swamped, one of us will greet you and give you a brief talk on types of art found in the various small bays. The person who greets you will most probably be Sophia who has over thirty years' experience in the field of works of art on paper. It is now that you will probably learn that in addition to having an extremely large stock of original art, The Old Print Barn offers all the services that art galleries should.
